Kindness is an act of exhibiting the goodness in us to our friends and those we do not know. People should always do well wherever they find themselves. Be good friends, parents, brothers, sisters, and relations. 

Interestingly, without the parent's loving care and kindness, an individual would not have possessed the necessary guidance as a child. Display kindness to the young and old. Render assistance to the needy and disabled. Always be kind to everyone that you come across by being considerate.

The few minutes you devote each day to self-improvement goes a long way.

Cultivate the habit of watching the way you live, by controlling your thoughts. Always think positive and act positively.

Don't be the slave of ignorance, fear, anxiety, petty irritations, and the insignificant frictions of life, otherwise, you will encourage disease, premature old age, and early death. Live positively.

Decency

Decency revolves around respectable behavior in society. This includes the use of polite words in our daily interaction, proper dressing, and the display of good manners. The extent to which we exhibit decency goes a long way in projecting the nature of the family we come from. We should endeavor to project the image of our families in a good light.

Value for the home

Children have to cultivate the habit of caring for valuables in the home. In light of this, parents should teach their children all about taking care of valuables in the home. TEACH YOUR CHILDREN: 1) Not to deface or damage the wall with dirty objects. 2)Not to write on the wall. 3)Not to paste papers or posters on the wall 4) To care for the windows with glass 5)To care for the furniture and other appliances in the home 6)To keep the home and its surroundings clean at all times. Value for Personal Possessions Parents loves their children that is why they buy toys for them. In this wise children should take care of all that is bought for them. For instance, you must not ride your bicycle recklessly and when it has a fault, contact the repairer. You must also keep your clothes clean and tidy always, while you must avoid anything that would damage your clothes.

Ettiquette

Rules of Manners and Good Behaviour
An individual cannot live in isolation, you have to interact with others.
You need your parents, teachers, and friends. Behave rightly at all times, avoid fighting and quarreling.
Follow the laid down rules and regulations of the land and also, respect acceptable culture and tradition.

A good relationship with others is the basis for peace in society.
Be careful about the kind of friends you make.
You have to be wise and selective in your choice of friends, avoid dubious characters, as such may portray you in a bad light.
Always welcome visitors, entertain them but be cautious about the manner in which you welcome visitors into your home.
Never borrow money to entertain friends, if you have nothing, don't go out of your way.

Self control

Self-control means the ability to keep our behavior and temper under constant check.
We should cultivate the habit of addressing people politely, even at the point of provocation.
Children who do not control their speech, usually get into trouble.
It is imperative for us to think very well before we speak to avoid unpleasant situations.
We should try as much as possible to avoid loose and careless utterances while opting for a respectful choice of words.

Contentment

Contentment is when an individual is satisfied with his or her limited possessions.
We must be happy with the little we have, while also living within our means.
People should shun greed and other acts that could attract envy and jealousy.
These days, most people lack contentment, this has resulted in the upward movement of the crime rate in most societies.
This is not good for the younger generation.

Sympathy / Keep Children Busy/ Children

Sympathy

Sympathy is the act of identifying with people in their times of grief.

It is proper to show sympathy to those who find themselves in unfortunate circumstances.

Always sympathize with those in bad condition or who find themselves in one form of difficulty or the other.

Difficult Situations include natural disaster, accident, economic recession or depression, fire incident and violence among others.

Keep children busy

Children should be encouraged to join voluntary organizations.

These voluntary organizations go a long way in molding the character and behaviour of children.

Parents and guardians have the responsibility to ensure that their children and wards engage in indoor and out door games.

Indoor Games : Scrabble, Monopoly, Ludo etc. Outdoor Games : Table Tennis, Volley ball, Handball, Football, Athletics etc.

Sadly, in a number of societies, parents aid and abet their children to commit crimes.

Voluntary Organizations 1)The Boys Scouts Association 2) The Girls Guide Association 3) The Red Cross Society among several others.

Cooperation

Cooperation Cooperation is the act of working together with others to achieve a common goal or objective. Working together ensures positive development in society. COOPERATION AT HOME As children, it is imperative for us to cooperate with other members of our family, in order to make the home a better place. Children must assist in : 1) The kitchen 2) Caring for their younger ones. 3) Caring for pets. 4)Cleaning the home and washing utensils 5)Going on errands. In the same vein, the Father must fulfil his domestic obligations, which include providing shelter, feeding and clothing. In addition, the Father takes care of all the financial bills of the children, while the Mother takes effective care of the home. In some societies, the reverse is the case. This is worrisome. COOPERATION AT SCHOOL Children must always be punctual and regular in school. Children must also do all their school work, be it academic or non-academic. The need to cooperate with classmates, class monitors and others should be inculcated in children. They must obey rules and regulations of the school. BENEFITS OF COOPERATION 1)Children who cooperate are not punished. 2)They are obedient, all the time. 3)They make sure they do all their class and homework. 4)They also carry out any other assignments given to them in school, without complain.

Self Reliance / Perseverance and Courage

Self reliance 1

Self Reliance is reposing confidence in one's ability and efforts.

This should be developed in the early stages of life, which definitely will be the basis for all individual accomplishments.

Such attitude goes together with focus and hardwork.

A person who is self confident does not wait on others, when it comes to decision making and problem solving.

PerserveranceCourage

Preserverance means pursuing an action or cause to a successful end.

Such action or cause involves surmounting the challenges and difficulties, one may encounter in the process of achieving success.

Aspects of peserverance include, patience, endurance and Tenacity.

Courage

Courage means mebarking on tasks, irrespective of the risks involved.

Perservenrance and Courage are crucial to achieving success in the Political and Social life of a nation. Both, ensure  that policies are implemented in the overall interests of the nation, rather than for self.

Perserveance and Courage also promotes peace and harmony in society, by ensuring an healthy and pleasant interaction among individuals.

Citizenship / Political Dialogue and Tolerance / Sense of Responsibility

Citizenship

Citizens are people who possess full rights within a defined geographical location.

Citizenship can be acquired by birht or by naturalization. It can be active or passive.

Active Citizenship

An active citizen supports all that will promote and develop his or her country.

He or She displays a high level of patriotism and exhibits kindness and honesty at all times.

Passive citizen

A passive citizen does not partake or bother about issues and activities concerning his or her country.

Such citizens do not contribute in any way to issues pertaining to development.

Bad citizen

This category of citizen work against the progress and development of the country.

They could also be referred to as fifth columnists or enemies of unity.

They spread rumours, commit a wide range of crimes and work at cross purposes.

Political dialogue

Intolerance is the trend, when it comes to political matters in most countries of the world.

After elections, winners and losers become sworn enemies.

The political class find it very difficult to work as a team for the good of the nation, due to self centered, sectional and ethnic interests.

Threats, intimidation, victimization and open attacks, facilitiated by security agencies and political thugs are common place in environment, where intolerance is the norm.

Political office holders refuse to accept that since they were elected by the people, they are accountable to them.

This could be a fall out of the way and manner they got into public office.

Sadly, vote buying trailed elections already conducted, while the election umpire streneously make efforts to convince the electorate that such elections were free and fair.

Self responsibility

Sense of responsibility means the duties or work assigned to an indiviual is done proeprlu and promptly.

People who occupy public offices must ensure that all they are entrusted with, is properly taken care of.

Work is done carefully, whole heartedly and efficiently.

Those in public offices sholud realize that their acts of commission or omission could affect others, either negatively or positively.

Hospitality and Concern for others / Truthfulness and Integrity/ Frugality / Freedom

` Receiving and treating others in a pleasant way, enables society to move forward.

As Nigerians, we ought to be accommodating, friendly and hospitable, though cautiously, in these time of insecurity.

Showing concern for others, enables us to develop a sense of duty and a resolve to make society a better place.

There are several Internally Displaced Persons(IDPs) in different locations in Nigeria,let us show them we are care about their situation

Truthfulness

An individual is deemed to be truthful, when itis discovered that he or she does nottellies.

Such a person is trustworthy and classified as a man ofwoman of honour.

A man or woman with this virtue commands respect and has integrity in society.

When entrusted with taxpayers money, such persons donot divert same to private use.

Such persons have no affinity with corruption.

The foregoing hasa correlation with faithfulnes.

A faithful person keeps promisesand is faithful to family, friends,community and nation.

Truthfulness and Integrityare some of the prerequisites for a society to experience peace, progressand development.

When public officers abuse their positions-elected, appointed or employed- for other reasons,the society bares the brunt.

 

Frugality is the  economical and careful usage of limited resources by an individual, group or nation.

Frugality in National Life

Government ought to be frugal in  spending revenue generated from various sources including taxes.

Indeed,  the needs of the citizenry far outweigh the visible provisions and  infrastructure.

Inflation of contracts, obviously, is an obstacle to frugality.

Althoough frugality among political office holders is debatable, the domineering roles of the corruption in government  activities has always been a source of worry for the people.

Frugality ensures development and economic emancipation, even though it is not the practice in several countries aorund the globe.

Freedom

Freedom exists when an individual embarks on an activity, without dangerous consequences and/or punishments.

In every country's constitution, there are sections that outline the Fundamental Human Rights of citizens.

These rights are not supposed to be trampled upon by fellow citizens, government and its agents, once such rights are not abused by the citizens themselves

Tenacity/ / Goodwill

Tenacity

Tenacity is to remain  steadfast in our actions, beliefs and behaviour.

An individual who does not hold  on strongly to set goals lacks tenacity.

There should never be a change of mind without good reasons, once a particular  action has been initiated.

Goodwill

It is very imperative for people to imbibe good and nobel intentions that would serve as guides for their daily activities.

Individuals should develop the habit of wishing others well byt their utterances and actions.

Aspects of goodwill include sense of duty, altruism and selflessness.

Actions must be premised on the need of the benefit of the larger society.

Political office holders and polticians with goodwill should endeavour to fulfill electoral promises, since their fory into politics is not to amass wealth, but for service to the peopls

Goodwill is acting with good or noble intentions. We should endeavour to always wish others well and these good wishes are reflected in the outcome of our actions.

1) Sense of Duty

We should ensure that our actions are for the good of others. This is sense of duty.

Our actions should not be hinged on material benefits, but based on the fact that it is our duty to do  good to others.

2) Altruism and Selflessness :

Altruism and Selflessness  is exhibited, when we act for the interest of others.

The reason we act is for  the benefit of others.

3)Good Motives ;

People should have good motives  when they act. In otherowrds the consequence of our actions should not have negative effects on tohers.

4) All our actions should guided by love and by the benefits that would accrue from such actions. We treat people we love the way, we also want to be treated.
